Mole Bonk is a short reaction game played on a bright green lawn. A cartoon mole with big eyes pokes out of a dirt hole somewhere on the field, waits a moment, and drops out of sight again. Your job is to click it before it hides. Each round has exactly ten moles, and the faster you react, the more each one is worth. Christopher Scott Hernandez built it in 2010 in plain JavaScript and drew all the art himself.
How to Play Mole Bonk
Click the title screen to begin. After a short pause, the first mole appears at a random spot on the lawn. It stays up for only three quarters of a second, so move your pointer and click right away. When you connect, the mole flashes behind a yellow burst for half a second and then disappears.
Points depend on speed. A mole is worth up to 1,000 points, and its value drains away every moment it stays up unclicked. A perfect round would be close to 10,000 points.
The panel in the top left shows your points and a Moles line, such as 4 / 6, meaning four hits out of six moles so far. After the tenth mole, the panel switches to your final score, and a Play Again button starts a fresh round from zero.

Tips and Strategies
- Rest your pointer in the middle. Moles can appear anywhere, so a central resting spot keeps every hole within a short move.
- React to the hole, not the face. The brown dirt ring is the widest part of the picture, and clicking anywhere on the mole image counts.
- Use the gaps. There is a steady pause of about one and a half seconds between moles. Use it to bring your pointer back to the center.
- Keep an eye near the panel. A mole can pop up right under the score panel in the top corner, and it still counts if you click it there.
- Aim for speed over safety. A slow hit still beats a miss, but a quick one can be worth several times more.
Features
- Speed-based scoring: every hit is worth between 0 and 1,000 points depending on how fast you click.
- Fixed ten-mole rounds: short, even rounds make it easy to compare one score with the next.
- Hand-drawn cartoon art: the moles, dirt holes and buttons were drawn by the game’s author.
- Live hit counter: the panel tracks points and hits out of moles shown as you play.
